The Game of Thrones season seven finale didn’t disappoint. The HBO TV show delivered more than an hour of plots, twists, betrayals, side changes, deaths, undead dragon, and even incest. This is the recipe that won millions of fans over in the first place. However, the most intriguing political scheme found Cersei Lannister in cahoots with Euron Greyjoy to the surprise of Jaime. Their mischievous plot was well prepared before the big meeting in Dragonpit.
Cersei’s Mischievous Plot Tricked Daenerys into Thinking She Has only One Front to Fight on for the Time Being
In the last episode of season seven, Game of Thrones left viewers with many questions answered. However, it also built up on the tension that will describe the last season of this show. All key characters met together, some even for the first time, in Dragonpit, King’s Landing. They discussed the danger of their common enemy, White Walkers.
However, Cersei proved to be the most deceitful politician of them all. She revealed later on that every word she spoke at the most important meeting of Game of Thrones was a lie. However, she was not alone. Euron Greyjoy dissimulated cowardice to hide his true intentions. He was to sail to Essos to bring back to King’s Landing the whole Golden Company with the resources from Iron Bank of Braavos.
If Cersei had no intention to form any alliance and respect the truce, then why did she agree to host the great meeting in the first place? The most plausible explanation is that Cersei wanted to trick Daenerys into thinking that she would be no threat for the duration of the war with the White Walkers. If the mother of dragons had any grain of suspicion, she would have divided her army to fight on two fronts.
The Alliance between Jon Snow and Mother of Dragons Made Cersei more Confident in Her Deceitful Plans
Therefore, Cersei won a precious head start for the epic battle for the Iron Throne. However, the Queen was served with a piece of news that drew her out from her ice shell. She discovered that her enemies allied against her as Jon bent the knee to Daenerys.
This was when her inclination for conspiracies whispered in her ear that Jon Snow and Targaryen would betray her no matter what. This moment might have just as well made Cersei more resolute in her schemes against her enemies.
In conclusion, Daenerys left the King’s Landing with a hopeful smile on her face. However, she remained completely uninformed. First of all, she believes that Cersei is vulnerable on the sea without her undefeated Iron Fleet.
On top of that, Dany has no idea that Cersei can raise an army of mercenaries overnight. Therefore, the season finale ends with a balance shift tilting towards Cersei thanks to her political schemes she learned from her father and a mischievous plot.
