Gotham’s second season looks very promising for the city’s villains. While the first season put Jim Gordon and the rest of the good guys to the test, it does not look like the second one is going to make it any easier for them. And there is still a lot of time until the Dark Knight will make his grand appearance. This means only one thing: Gotham will face chaos.
The 30-second promo for the new season reveals Jim and his good companions as they are noticing how villains want to take control of their city. The ice breaker is none other than Jerome, who we have carefully been lead to think of as the future Joker. Jerome escapes Arkham with the aid of Tabitha Galavan and he proceeds to unleash his soon-to-be clown.
Jerome manages to somehow get his hands on a police officer’s uniform, bringing the department down to his knees. What keeps us on edge is the fact that he happily faces a surveillance camera saying “You ain’t seen nothing yet!”, so this might hint that the clown is aiming for some really dangerous acts throughout the season.
But Jerome is not the only criminal with aspirations in Gotham. Oswald Cobblepot, also known as the famous Pinguin, is making his stand trying to secure his new dominion as king of Gotham. Barbara Kean, Jim’s ex-fiancée has also embraced her dark side and is seen working with the gang towards whatever purpose she believes is now right.
Edward Nygma is still lurking about the GCPD and can be seen in a rather ironic scene while telling someone else that everybody think they are going to be nuts. We already know Edward lost his screws at the end of season 1, so maybe he will tie up some loose ends in this one, still keeping his classy criminal style of course.
These are just some of the many villains who will grace us with their presence in the following season, minor hints being directed to some other majors who will come to influence Batman’s life. We are talking about Clayface, Mr. Freeze, the Mad Hatter, maybe a female Firefly, Calendar Man and even Hugo Strange.
Honestly now, with all these freaks lurking around, it’s no surprise that a guy dressed up like a bat needs to come in and save the day. If you are interested in seeing how all these baddies will be stopped, or not, tune in to Fox on September 21st and let the party begin.
