This summer fans of the Marvel Universe got another sneak peek into the life of Peter Park as Spiderman. Even though the theme was overused in the past, the creative team behind the production managed to refresh this perspective with new angles of the story. As it proved to be a smashing hit, the same group of writers was summoned once more to work on the movie sequel.
Spiderman: Homecoming Represents the First Experience Sony Had with Marvel
A new report revealed that Sony gathered the band behind ‘Spiderman: Homecoming’ at just a month after the movie release to work on the next project. The document exposed co-screenwriters Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna as the confirmed minds behind the next solo Spiderman production. On top of that, the same actor Tom Holland will put on the latex suit once more to bring the adventures of the witty Spidey back to life.
Marvel was sinking under the disappointing performance of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ movies that director Marc Webb created. However, in an unprecedented move, Sony approached the company for a new collaboration. They tested the idea of a youthful Spiderman through Captain America: Civil War. This is when they saw how charismatic Tom Holland could be on the big screens.
The Movie Sequel Kept Tom Holland yet It Is Not so Sure about Director John Watts
Therefore, Sony won Marvel’s trust to reiterate the story behind Spiderman on screen, but in their own style. The movie follows Peter Parker returning to his old school routine after the most exhilarating adventure he had with the Avengers. Tony Stark is now his new mentor, and Parker is excited to unlock the latest technology to boost his powers.
The production turned out to be a success among numerous summer failures. Therefore, it was obvious that Sony will consider the idea of a movie sequel. The next solo hero production will appear in 2019. While it is certain that Holland will reprise the role that made him famous, the same cannot be said about director John Watts.
