The Overwatch hacker had developed a program that disturbed everyone’s gaming experience
If you cheat in an online game, you might not see it as something so serious. However, the South Korean law thinks otherwise, as shows the case of a 28-year-old Overwatch hacker. Apparently, the man created a program that disturbed the gaming experience of the other players. The South Korean court couldn’t tolerate this, so the hacker received a prison sentence for it.
South Korea has harsh punishments for Overwatch cheater
Hacking and cheating is something serious in South Korea, so it might be a good idea to stay away from such practices while in the country. An Overwatch hacker had to learn it the hard way after he received a tough punishment. The man had developed a program that brought money while disturbing the overall gaming experience.
When the South Korean judges have discovered it, they didn’t hesitate to give the Overwatch hacker a serious punishment. This way, the man received a one-year prison sentence, together with two years of probation. No matter what kind of improper behavior you might exhibit during gaming, South Korea will punish it.
The Overwatch hacker was the first to receive a prison sentence
In the country, there is a special law that offers games protection from all kinds of improper behaviors, but especially hacking and cheating. However, the punishments are usually so harsh. According to some official sources, the Overwatch hacker has suffered one of the most serious sentences of all.
Overwatch seems to be quite a common target for South Korean hackers. At the beginning of this year, two other hackers received punishments for mingling with Overwatch. However, none of them had to go to jail. The first one received two years of probation, while the second received a fine of about $10,000.
However, it’s somehow understandable why the third Overwatch hacker received the tough sentence. The program he had developed brought him a huge profit while disturbing the other players, so the judges thought he deserved a harsher sentence than the other two hackers.
