The third person MOBA Smite will be available on PlayStation 4 soon. The game is already highly popular among Xbox One and PC players.
For the moment, the PlayStation 4 version for Smite is in a closed alpha. The closed beta will start in March and players who will want to join the arena can do so by clicking here. Of course, the only requirements are that the players own a PlayStation 4 gaming platform and that they are thirteen or older.
Smite, who has become increasingly popular on Xbox One and PC, is a third-person, battle arena multiplayer online. Much like in the case of League of Legends or Defense of the Ancients, Smite features a single map with an over-the-shoulder view. The teams of players confront each other, each team having three to five members.
The main difference between Smite and all other MOBA games out there is that the characters are not orcs, elves, and other fantasy creatures, but Egyptian, Chinese, Hindu, Greek, Mayan, Japanese, Roman and Norse gods. The powers of each character are similar to those attributed to the god it embodies.
The single map features other interesting figures from ancient mythology like the Phoenix and a Titan. The team that wants to win the match must defeat the Titan. So basically, Smite is Age of Mythology with more gods, and a single map.
Smite also features a great deal of game modes. Players can choose between Practice, which is basically the main tutorial, an exclusive Jungle practice and a number of Normal game modes. Co-Op which features the cooperative versions of the majority of game modes.
Normal with the Conquest, Arena, Joust, Assault, Siege, Clash and “Match of the Day” features. Ranked which is basically the Joust and Conquest games modified as competitive versions of the gaming mode. And Custom where, as the name suggests, players are allowed to customize their Normal versions of the game modes.
Unfortunately, the game is not playable between platforms. So if you want to play with your friends you must all have the same gaming platform (PC or Xbox One for the moment, PlayStation 4 in the near future).
Smite will be available on PlayStation 4 for free, but if you are impatient then you can catch the Founder’s Pack on sale for $30. The pack contains beta access key, 400 gems, two skins and allows you to unlock all the characters in the game, present, and future. After the full release of the game, the bundle will be discontinued.
