Typhoon Doksuri has moved northwards over China, resulting in heavy rainfall that has affected Beijing and its neighboring regions. The continuous rain caused catastrophic flooding, leading to the destruction of roads and trapping residents across the area.
Reports from state media indicate that at least 21 people have lost their lives due to the floods. Authorities anticipate that it will take approximately a month for the floodwaters to recede in the worst-affected areas. In response to the emergency, local residents have collaborated with the military to evacuate those who were stranded in their homes since the start of the rainfall.
Numerous videos on social media have emerged, showing the force of the flooding as cars are swept away and roads collapse. This extreme weather occurrence coincides with the recent denial by China’s foreign ministry regarding accusations of obstructing climate change discussions during the G20 meetings in India last week.
