A most gruesome double homicide has put the entire Meskwaki community on edge. A 25-year-old man belonging to the Sac and Fox tribe was recently taken into custody and charged with two counts of first-degree murder after he brutally murdered his mother and father using a machete. The bodies were discovered by the man’s brother, who immediately notified the local authorities.
Recently, the Tama County Sheriff’s Office declared that 25-year-old Gordon Lasley Jr. had been arrested for murdering his Gordon Lasley Sr. and Kim Lasley, his parents, using a machete. The gruesome discovery was made by Tyler Lasley, Gordon’s older brother.
Gordon and his family are part of the Meskwaki tribe, also known as the Sac and Fox Tribe, a community with over 1,000 members located in the central part of Iowa. According to the man’s affidavit, it would appear that the man offered no reason to why he chose to butcher his parents that day with the machete he found lying around the house.
After the deed was done, Gordon jumped into his mother’s car and fled the scene. Two hours later, Tyler Lasley, the couple’s older son and Gordon’s brother, popped in to check on his parents. However, upon entering the house, he was faced with a scene that he will never forget. Tyler found the bloody corpse of his mother lying in the basement, while his father’s body was left on the couch.
The man immediately notified the Meskwaki Tribal Police, who immediately started searching for Tyler’s little brother. Several hours later, the authorities managed to track down the car Gordon used to stage his getaway and stopped him.
According to the authorities, after the officers pulled over Gordon and went to his car, he seemed totally oblivious to what he has done. However, up to that point, there was not enough evidence to suggest that Gordon was the one who committed the double homicide.
But, upon taking a closer look at the individual behind the wheel, the police officers discovered that his clothes had multiple blood stains from a wound he had on one of his hands. After searching the vehicle, the authorities found a machete, the very weapon Gordon used to butcher his parents.
The man was taken into custody and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. A magistrate set Gordon’s bond at $2 million. Although Gordon’s case is being handled by the Meskwaki Tribal Police, they have received help from the FBI, Toledo PD, Tama County PD, Tama County’s Sheriff’s Department, and Iowa’s Division of Criminal Investigation.
