Instagram is getting more and more appealing, as it has now added a series of new features that should attract users. Both the iOS and the Android apps will accompany the platform’s exclusive IGTV tab, making the future a lot brighter. The new features, initially announced last month during the F8 conference, include video chat, topic channels for the Explore tab, and new effects for the camera.
Instagram users have been expecting the video chat feature
Instagram decided to give its users even more features, so it will now add three more on the list. The most expected one is probably video chat, which will become available within the direct messaging feature of the platform. The new option will let you start a video chat both with a single person and with a group.
Instagram wanted to keep things simple, so it’s really easy to start a video chat. First, you need to swipe right on the screen and enter the Inbox tab. Then, tap on a message thread and, afterwards, select the camera icon in the top right corner. If you want to do more things at a time, you can minimize the video chat and scroll on your feed. However, this option is available only for group chats.
The two other features are new filters and topic channels on the Explore tab
The second exclusive feature includes the topic channels. This is available right at the top of the Explore tab. There, you will see more channels containing more categories. One of them is called For You and contains posts filtered according to your interests. Apart from this, there are other channels containing different topics, like Art, Sports, or Beauty.
In the end, the latest addition on Instagram are the brand new camera filters. This exclusive content has been designed by a series of celebrities, but also by the internet giant BuzzFeed or the NBA. If you follow the creators of these filters, you can access them by tapping the face icon that appears at the bottom of their accounts. If not, they will still be available when you watch a story of someone using them.
