In case you were enjoying Facebook’s On This Day feature, you should know the platform decided to improve it. Soon enough, it will bring an entirely new page called Memories that collects all moment you shouldn’t miss. Apart from what the previous feature allowed you to see, the new page lets you check out past posts you shared or might have missed.
On This Day gets its individual page called Memories
Facebook has decided to make it easier for you to look at what you shared. This way, it turned the On This Day section into an individual page called Memories. If you expect a big change, there won’t be anything so strikingly different. However, the content will be better organized and will have its own page.
More precisely, each memory will be divided according to its type. For instance, the new Memories page will have a feature called Friends Made on this Day. Here, you’ll get a list of all the friends you made on this day, together with the year when this happened. Of course, you’ll still get ‘friendversaries’ for the most important of them.
Facebook might attempt to convince people to post more
Also, Facebook knows you might not check the On This Day tab daily. Therefore, the new page will feature an option called Memories You Might Have Missed. You’ll also get recaps every month or season, where all the meaningful posts get together either into a video or a message you can immediately share. However, these recaps aren’t exactly new, as you might have noticed them about a year ago.
The new Memories page might be a way to convince people to share more posts. Recently, Facebook noticed how people started sharing fewer organic posts. Therefore, it decided to adopt a different strategy. By making messages more appealing and adding GIF support, the platform tried to encourage users to share more personal posts. Therefore, the revamped Memories might be another strategy in the sense.
