The owners of the DaddyOFive YouTube channel have officially lost custody of their five children after several internet users reported them for uploading videos featuring child cruelty masked as pranks. Two of the children will go to their birth mother, while three of them will probably end up in the system.
It’s Just a Prank, Bro!
The leitmotif of all videos posted by DaddyOFive was It’s just a prank, bro! uttered by the father as the mother – or stepmother, depending on the child targeted by the so-called joke, laughed, tears flooding her eyes. A completely different kind of tears than those of the victim’s.
In one of the videos, the mother is shown pouring a bottle of invisible ink on the staircase. Then, she adopts an angry demeanor, targeting one of the children and yelling her lungs out while the father films the entire shebang. The profanities pour, exceeding the level of spilled ink. As the mother becomes visibly amused by her prank, the child starts crying. Que the father shouting that It’s just a prank, bro!
In another video, an older brother picks up a tablet with the obvious intention of smashing it, ignoring the heartful pleas of Cody – the child usually targeted by these pranks – who cried in vain trying to convince him not to destroy his gadget. Alas, the big brother is no sucker for tears, so he destroys the tablet, completely ignoring the child’s suffering.
When Did Child Abuse Become a Form of Entertainment?
One of the biggest problems in this case, besides the obvious, is the lack of sympathy amidst the 762,767 subscribers that were watching the videos with great interest. Even though one of them finally decided to report DaddyOFive, 762,766 still played a part in ruining five childhoods.
Furthermore, if not for these subscribers who generated a pretty income, the parents would never have strived to come up with those torturous pranks. Moreover, even though most of the children grew accustomed with their parents’ twisted sense of humor, Cody seemed to have it the worst.
Presently, all videos were removed from the YouTube account, a single apology left on the page – a testimony of the children’s nightmare.
“What started out as family fun and entertainment took on a life of its own. Before we knew it, we were caught up in our families popularity which led to some poor decisions. Upon reflection, we realize there were mistakes made that caused our family some pain; we offer our most humble and sincere apology to those we negatively impacted and offended, particularly our wonderful children,” their public apology reads.
Abuse is a serious issue that should never be tolerated or in any way treated as humorous. If you witness a case of family or child abuse, contact the local authorities immediately. There are plenty of online communities designed to help in such cases from the National Child Abuse Hotline to Faith projects, and governmental programs.
