Some of us are born with it. Some of us are born to change the face of the world others have designed for us and bring a breath of fresh air in certain fields that have started to become unbreathable social territories. Madeline Stuart, a young and restless girl is changing the face of fashion. She is making history with her runway debut in NY Fashion Week next month.
The teen has already attended many photo sessions and in spite of her unusual appearance, she is as attractive as a top model can be. The 18 year old teen has been invited by an Italian fashion TV presenter to take over the catwalk at Grand Central’s Vanderbilt Hall in a runway presentation that left everyone with their mouths open.
The fashion paradigm is slowly changing by embracing new forms of beauty. Hopefully, a diverse future will redesign the esthetic structure of the industry. There have been so many years since the ideal standard has blocked the perspective over the way beauty should be defined. Perfect slimness, long legs, exotic or Barbie faces with perfect facial features are still trending, suffocating variety. Beauty is diversity as well and most of the times it is a question of attitude. Madeline Stuart is the perfect example in that matter, as she is pretty far from the classic definition of beauty but extremely close to redefining the standards.
Jamie Brewer was the model that inspired her footsteps towards a fashion-friendly career, as she was the first runway model with Down syndrome to walk at the NY Fashion Week back in February.
Maddie became a social media icon some months ago, after she has decided to become a professional model. Her aim is to inspire other teens to tackle stereotypes and break the barriers of convention. She is a strong girl, extremely determined to change society’s views of people with disabilities. Maddie already has a huge fan base, all agreeing that a model must not be defined by her disability or by her particularities that more than anything, make her unique.
The girl has already become a role model for people of all ages and social backgrounds. Maddy has recently participated in a photo session for a fitness brand called Manifesta and was named the face of a new handbag line from everMaya.
We are witnessing a revolution in the fashion industry, as a model with Down Syndrome will do the catwalk at NY fashion week and will hopefully manage to change the views of many narrow minds that cannot cross the standardized barriers of fashion.
