Upper Darby Police Department declared that a daycare worker at the Child Care of the Future Center has been fired and brought up on charges after a security footage revealed the woman shoving down the stairs a 4-year-old girl. The daycare worker was charged with child endangerment and simple assault but was later released from prison after she paid her $25,000 cash bond.
During an interview, Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood of the Upper Darby PD declared that 52-year-old day care worker employed at the Child Care of the Future Center was recently fired and charged with child neglect and assault. The woman’s contract was terminated, and the police notified after the center’s caretaker saw the woman pushing down the stairs a 4-year-old girl.
Identified as Sarah Gable, the woman was a certified day care worker. Before the recent incident, the center’s upper management received no grievances regarding Gable’s work. However, the status quo changed after Shawayne Tavares, the day care center’s caretaker, reviewing the security footage.
One of the cameras mounted on top of a flight of stairs revealed how the daycare worked treated the children in her care. The one-minute-long depicts the four-year-old girls as she’s trying to make her way down the stairs.
After just a couple of seconds, Sarah Gable, the day care worker, appears from behind the girl and pushes her from behind. The girl tumbles down the stairs, hitting her head against the wall. The rest of the video shows the woman looking at the poor girl who laid on the floor.
Upon descending some steps, Gable briefly stops and looks at the camera, as if acknowledging its presence and perhaps discovering that her position might be compromised.
Tavares told the police that after review the security tapes, he immediately went to confront the day care worker and to tell her that this is not how the institution treats its children. The center’s management decided to terminate the woman’s contract and to notify the police.
Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood declared that the girl was rushed to the hospital, where the doctors treated her for a light knee injury. Gable was taken into custody and charged with child endangerment and simple assault.
However, a few day later, the daycare worker was released from prison, after she managed to pay off her $25,000 cash bond.
