Not everybody enjoys a fast internet connection. For the users who have a 2G mobile data or slow internet connection, Twitter Lite is here. Twitter just released a new web app that can be accessed by people who don’t have a great internet connection.
This mobile app is going to allow users to use it without fearing that they might consume all of their mobile data while twitting something. The company decided to make this version of the mobile app because more than 45% of mobile users worldwide have a slow network or 2 G mobile data. Twitter mentioned that the page is going to load faster and it is also going to take up less space on your smartphone.
Designed for slow internet connection
Twitter Lite can be used by any user. Despite this fact, the company mentioned that their targeted audience is from countries with cheap smartphones and slow networks. Twitter Lite offers the same experience as the normal version of the app. It keeps all the important and interesting features while loading faster and taking up less space.
This version of Twitter is a data saver. Twitter Lite offers its users the possibility to choose what they like to see. In order to save up data, people will see blurred posts and can pick the ones they are interested in. After that, they can load the videos and posts at a smaller cost and a faster speed.
With the help of this app version, more people will be able to access the social media platform. The company mentioned that this is not an actual app but it has the same interface as the original site. It is a great alternative for people who don’t have a Wi-Fi connection and rely only on their mobile data.
“This can reduce your data usage by up to 70%, making it more affordable for you to use Twitter in areas where mobile data is expensive,” mentioned Twitter’s product manager Patrick Traughber.
Starting now, people from Latin America, Africa, India, and Asia Pacific can enjoy Twitter Lite without fearing they might spend a fortune on their mobile data bill. Twitter Lite is available worldwide starting today. This change might make the social media platform even more popular than it already is.
What is your opinion about this change? Do you think that Twitter Lite is useful?
