How a would you rate your Battlefield 1 skills so far? If ‘pretty good’ or ‘awesome’ were your answer, then you’ll have a chance of putting them money where your mouth is. In a recent online statement, DICE, the game’s developer, announced that They Shall Not Pass, Battlefield 1’s first DLC would go live, starting on the 15th of February. Note that only Premium Pass owners will be granted early access to the DLC.
Probably most BF1 players thought that the game is pretty awesome, but there’s still something missing. So, to appease its voracious fandom, DICE has just announced that the game’s first DLC entitled They Shall Not Pass (imagine Gandalf carrying a Lifebuoy M1 Flamethrower and standing on top of a bunker), will be rolled out starting with the 15th of February. But there’s a small catch.
To be able to access the DLC’s contents, you must own a Premium Pass. Even if you don’t have one of those fancy rich man passes, you’ll still need to download the latest update, and, of course, wait your turn.
So, the good news is that we’re getting a new DLC which features new weapons, four new maps, a new game mode, two new tanks, and another class. On the other hand, the bad news is that we need a Premium Pass to play the game when it goes live and that we’ll have to wait until the 28th of March for the game to become available.
Now, due to the fact that the game needs to be updated, the servers will have to be taken offline. According to DICE, for the PC version of the game, the servers will be offline for two hours starting at 08.00 UTC. Subsequently, the Xbox server will go dark for two hours at 12.00 UTC, while the PS4 server will be taken offline starting at 10.00 UTC.
In terms of goodies, They Shall Not Pass features four new maps called Verdun Heights, Fort Vaux (dark galleries and underground corridors), Soissons (biggest tank battle of WW1), and Rupture (banks of Aisne River).
The new game mode features by They Shall Not Pass is called Frontlines and, according to DICE, it will be a blend of Rush and Conquest. As for the new rolling behemoths, the DLC will introduce the historically-accurate Char 2C and St. Charmond tanks.
They Shall Not Pass will also bestow upon the player a new stationary weapon called the Siege Howitzer, and a new player class entitled Trench Raider Elite.
