Tesla Lost One of Its Key Suppliers Which Set Its Tech Revolution Back
This new internal alterations offer a better control over how the company works. Tesla has recently suffered a crucial setback that might have stolen it years of progress. Tesla’s main supplier of chips that are crucial for the Autopilot program, Mobileye, interrupted contract with the tech giant last year. This announcement was made after the company recorded the first fatal accident of a Model S owner while Autopilot was active.
Since then, the company worked on a transition of technology from its former supplier to an internal system. Even though Tesla is expected to revolutionize the second generation of autonomous cars, it was only last weekend when it managed to restore all capabilities for first generation.
As a consequence, Tesla needs top-notch engineers by its side to respect some pressing deadlines. By the end of the year, the company has to organize a test drive from Los Angeles to New York with its second-generation technology. This is where Andrej Karpathy comes in. His expertise in deep learning and AI made it the right fit for such a challenging position within Tesla.
