The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation recently declared that the hunt for kidnapped Tad Cummins has ended. Elizabeth Thomas, the 15-year-old Culleoka Unit School student, whom Cummins abducted on the 13th of March is safe and sound and will be flown with the next TBI jet to be reunited with her family.
Shortly after receiving a tip according to which Cummins and Thomas may be hiding in a secluded area of California, the authorities moved in and managed to apprehend Tad Cummins. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tad Cummins did not offer any resistance when he was arrested and, for the moment, he is cooperating with the local authorities.
Tad Cummins and Thomas Located
Since the disappearance of Elizabeth Thomas on the 13th of March, the authorities issued two nationwide Amber Alerts. The public was asked to dial 911 or contact TBI if Thomas and Cummins would resurface.
The last reliable intel places Cummins and Thomas at an Oklahoma City Wal-Mart supermarket, on the 15th of March. Since then, despite receiving nearly 1,500 tips from the public, the authorities have been unable to track down the suspect and his victim.
The tip that led to the arrest of Tad Cummins came only last week. According to the TBI, the man who alerted the authorities told them that he had seen Cummins and Thomas near a wooden cabin, located in Cecilville, a remote area in California.
Elizabeth Thomas is Finally Coming Home
Soon after receiving the tip, the TBI contacted the local Sheriff’s Office and asked them to confirm the tip. After combing the area, the deputies located a silver Nissan Rouge, the vehicle Cummins drove when he and Thomas were spotted at the supermarket in Oklahoma.
The car was placed under surveillance and, after a couple of hours, the suspect arrived to check up on his vehicle. Minutes later, numerous law enforcement officers surrounded Cummins and stormed the wooden cabin in order to rescue Elizabeth Thomas.
Sheriff’s deputies reported that Thomas showed no sign of physical abuse, but she will have to be consulted by a specialist. Thomas’s father was overjoyed to hear that the authorities managed to find his daughter.
TBI’s director said that Elizabeth Thomas would be taken back to her parents’ Culleoka house as soon as possible. Thomas’s father declared that although he’s more than happy that his daughter is coming home, he feels that his daughter’s road to recovery will be long and difficult.
