Police authorities from Eagan, Minnesota are currently investigating the case of a moving company’s security guard who shot and killed an armed suspect on sight. The security guard claimed that the suspect attempted to rob the premises and that he was forced to open fire after the an attacked him.
On Monday morning, the security guard from Aldrin Building, which currently houses a moving company in charge of Operation Christmas Child, dialed 911. The security guard told the dispatcher that he shot and killed an armed man, whom he caught in the building.
The police officer who arrived on the scene found the body of a Caucasian male, who died from a severe gun would. Upon interviewing the security guard, the officers uncovering the following facts.
Around midnight, the security guard heard a strange sound coming from inside the building, and he went to investigate. Upon closer inspection of the building, he caught a man, who, allegedly, was trying to steal donation money and other items.
The security guard told the police that he told the man to stand still, but the suspect drew out a firearm and threatened to shoot the security guard. Several minutes later, the security guard attempted to disarm the man and to immobilize him.
The armed robber and the building’s security guards struggled for some time until the guard pulled out his gun and shot the suspect at point blank range. The suspect fell to the ground, and the security guard called the police.
At the moment, the police officers said that everything the security guard declared was true. However, there’s still a bigger puzzle out there – what was the robber after? The investigators were not able to establish whether the man really wanted to raid the Aldrin building or if he had an ulterior motive.
After the police officers had finished interviewing the security guard, and an ambulance was called. The robber’s lifeless body was transported to the coroner’s office where an autopsy will be performed.
As for the gun-slinging security guard, Eagan’s police department declared that he had sustained minor injuries during the scuffle and that he did not need any medical attention.
The investigators haven’t rounded up any suspects so far, meaning that we may look at a closed case.
