On Sunday, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the authorities were summoned to a two-story building located at the intersection of French and 17th streets. The 911 caller detailed that a white Nissan Altima crashed into the second floor of a nearby building.
According to the investigators, shortly before reaching the 17th street, the sedan’s driver lost control of the vehicle which swerved into the nearby median. Considering the trajectory of the vehicle, the investigators suspect that the vehicle must have grazed a dirt mount.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the vehicle launched into the air and crashing into the second story of a nearby building which houses a dental office. The impact caused a small fire inside the dental office.
Fortunately, the vehicle’s driver managed to free himself from the debris. Another occupant was extricated from the white sedan by Urban Search and Rescue teams.
According to the official police report, the vehicle’s driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. At the moment, the authorities are trying to determine exactly how the vehicle was projected in the dental office.
Fortunately, no one was inside the dental office building when the white sedan crashed. Firefighters managed to extinguish the car debris on time before the blaze could extend to the rest of the building. During the car’s collision with the medians, no traffic participants were involved.
The Santa Ana white sedan was later taken out of the building, and the tenants notified.
