New York Police Department recently recovered a 5-year-old boy from an apartment infested with rodents. The boy was all alone and without food. Both parents were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.
NY Apartment Overrun by Insects and Rats
According to an NYPD spokesperson, the events that led to the discovery of a 5-year-old toddler living in unimaginable conditions stated to unfold on Friday. A FedEx employee scheduled to deliver a packaged to the NY apartment in Kingsbridge Avenue, Bronx, saw that there was something amiss after ringing the doorbell and decided to call the authorities.
Moments later, the law enforcement officers broke down the door after receiving no answer. Insider they’ve found a 5-year-old boy all alone and standing in a house that would make a pigsty look like a 4-star hotel.
The official police report states that the apartment was overrun with rodent and various insects and that the toddler’s room was as filthy as the rest of the house. Moreover, a search of the NY apartment revealed that the child was left without food and that the toddler shared the house with his three siblings, one of which is a teenager with special needs.
The children were taken into custody, and the authorities began searching for their parents. Later that day, both of them were arrested and charged with endangering a minor’s welfare. The mother, who’s an MTA worker and father who has a job at the local hospital declared that they’ve called the school telling them that the child is sick.
However, that does not explain why the toddler and his sibling were living in rancid conditions. A judge set a bond bail of $30,000, and the couple is expected in Court the following week. The case is under scrutiny.
