Though it may sound peculiar, to say the least, the idea of a game where dating is now pigeon-only, and the main character attends an all-pigeon school is refreshing to some. If games such as Goat were such massive successes, why wouldn’t Hatoful Boyfriend be? The outlandish-sounding game has just announced its partnership with Devolver Digital and its move towards PS4 and Vita.
Hatoful Boyfriend will be arriving on both these consols on the 21st of July. Fans will be able to buy it once, for either one of the two consoles, and play it on both.
The story behind the game is rather simple: players step into the world of a high-school girl attending an all pigeon institution. She can, obviously, only date birds. In fact, the birds rule this post-apocalyptic world.
Of course, apart from the romantic side of the game, there are many major aspects of the game. Side stories and a lot of exploration add a particular edge to an already peculiar game and the PlayStation adaptations have announced additional features for their fans and fans-to-be.
Aside from the improved graphics that the original show featured, a new story involving Tohri, one of the main characters will also be available. Players will also be able to operate doomsday machines in this world turned upside down, so that even those who have played the game have things to look forward to.
“This new content means there is a whole new story path for longtime fans and new players to the series as well as a brand new ending,” Nigel Lowrie, from Devolver Digital writes.
Enthusiasts can look forward to exploring stalkers and battle long-time rivals. Both players and critics have acclaimed the game, which has received an 8.0 critics rating and a 9.0 community rating on IGN. If you haven’t tried the game out yet, make sure to give it a go! You won’t regret it.
