Eating past might be part of an excellent diet.
Based on the latest research, pasta is not such a bad choice after all. For a long time, there has been a constant debate whether this type of food is related to obesity or not.
It seems that when it comes to overweight problems, not the fact that you eat pasta is the problem but how you eat it.
In other words, if people combine pasta with a sauce full of unhealthy fats and meat, such a meal will certainly lead to weight issues.
But if you combine pasta with vegetables, nuts, and olive oil, this will make up for an excellent meal full of healthy fats that will represent no threat to your health and physical aspect.
Also, only one-third of the plate should consist of pasta, whereas the rest might contain a healthy mix of vegetables.
There is a huge difference between healthy fats and unhealthy fats found in various types of meat, sauces, and junk food.
Nutritionists established that healthy fats do not increase the risk of obesity as they are found in nuts, olive oil, and fish.
These foods are an important part of the Mediterranean diet which has become quite popular over the past few years.
During the latest studies, experts discovered that the healthiest choice when it comes to an excellent diet is represented by Mediterranean foods.
Italian scientists have conducted a survey of 23 people and found that eating pasta in moderate amounts and combined with a mix of vegetables leads to lower waist-hip ratio and body mass. It means that this type of food can even help people lose a couple of pounds.
Another significant finding shows that eating pasta might be linked to lower obesity rates as well. According to George Pounis, lead author of the study, a healthy diet that includes some meals of pasta is associated with a better waist-hip ratio, lower waist circumference, and a healthy body mass index.
The Mediterranean diet also includes whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. According to Licia Lacoviello, Neuromed Institute head of Molecular and Nutritional Epidemiology, pasta is part of the Italian Mediterranean tradition when it comes to food so it would be both an unhealthy decision and an offense to cut it off from this diet.
