Cary County Sheriff’s deputies recently arrested a 39-year-old man and charged with murder and abuse of an elderly person. According to the man’s arrest warrant, the North Carolina man intentionally failed to provide assistance to his 74-year-old mother who fell on the floor.
North Carolina Man Knew that His Mother Will Die
Last week, on Tuesday, the sheriff’s deputies arrested 39-year-old Eric Brunner at his house located at 6801 Marksman Way. According to the authorities, Brunner, registered as the caretaker of 74-year-old Cynthia Brunner, his mother, has been accused of failing to provide assistance to the woman who fell inside the Cary house.
Moreover, according to J.N. Yoakum, the investigator in charge of Brunner’s case, the North Carolina man waiting at least 24 hours before notifying the authorities about his mother’s decease. The woman’s body was recovered from Brunner’s home on the 19th of February.
During the investigation, Yoakum discovered that Brunner’s deed was partly fueled by money. According to the North Carolina man, his 74-year-old mother had approximately $30,000 in her bank account, money that Brunner considered his.
Furthermore, facts show that Brunner had a fallout with his mother on more than one occasion. Still, investigator Yoakum commented that money might not be the only reason why Brunner murdered his mother since the man had partial access to her bank accounts and handled most of her monetary transactions.
According to the authorities, the woman passed away after spending hours on end lying on the floor. Moreover, the investigators pointed out that Cynthia tried numerous times to ask the help of his son, who ignored her every time.
On Friday, the North Carolina man has been booked in Wake County jail where he will remain until his court appointment, on the 14th of April.
