To keep up with the times, Nike decided to create a truly unique product, that embodies the consumer’s vision of the future – the self-lacing shoes.
Announced for the 1st of December, Nike’s HyperAdapt 1.0 sneakers aka the self-lacing shoes are sure to become a popular item as soon they hit the shelves. According to the company, a single pair of Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 shoes will cost a little over $700 and will be available in Nike+ Clubhouse stores and Nike Soho Stores.
Now, the concept of self-lacing shoes is not entirely new. Disregarding, Michael J. Fox’s awesome pair of high-tech sneakers from ‘Back to The Future II’ , Nike wanted to bring these types of shoes on the market ever since 2015.
Back in 2015, the company designed the first generation of self-lacing shoes which were called Nike Air 2015. Subsequently, at the beginning of 2016, the company designed the second generation of self-lacing sneakers called Nike Air Mag 2016.
However, due to some production difficulties, the company only made 89 pairs of self-lacing shoes, and mainly distributing them via contests.
But the company did not abandon its intent of making the high-tech sneaker available to the public. So, after a couple of drawbacks, Nike managed to commercialize its famous self-lacing sneakers.
Starting at the beginning of December, you buy your pair of self-lacing, Back to the Future-inspired sports shoes from either one of the shops mentioned before. Nike said that the price tag of a pair would be $720, which is great news, considering that everyone expected it to be much higher.
How do the innovative self-lacing sneakers work? Well, you put them on your feet, and, using the buttons on the side, you adjust the shoe’s grip. Unfortunately, the adjustment has to be done manually, but Nike declared that’s currently working on the way to make the process fully automatic.
So, the next time you put on a pair of Nike sports shoes, you won’t have to bend over in order to tie your shoe laces, since the shoe will do the job for you.
As for color preferences, you’ll be pleased to know that the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 sneakers will come in five colors: white, black, blue lagoon, metallic silver, and black/white.
