One would often wonder about the recipe of a normal and healthy sexual life. Researchers tend to believe that a healthy diet and an active lifestyle are your best bet to keep things fresh in the bedroom. But what happens if you’re a gym rat who likes to spend hours at an end to get rid of that annoying beer belly?
Well, according to a new study performed by the University of California, men who are in love with their body and have the habit of spending way too many hours at the gym might have issues when it comes to bedroom activities. The new study suggests that male participants who engage in rigorous daily exercises have decreased libido compared to those who work out in moderation.
Although the study does not point out specifically that there is a connection between sexual desire and the number of gym training session, the researchers involved in the project have noted that men who liked to hit the gym more often are either too tired or not motivated enough to engage in sexual activities.
The scientists declared that extreme workout could very well diminish our energy and testosterone reserves, up to the point where sleeping is more enticing that fooling around in the sheets. The study was mainly based on questionnaires about physical exercise regime and sex life.
Participants were asked to fill in weekly questionnaires about how much time they tend to spend in the gym, and how would they rate their sexual desire after returning home. Based on the results of the questionnaires, the scientists concluded that being a gym rat might not be that great after all, since you will probably lack the energy and mood to anything else besides eating, showering, and sleeping.
The results of the study are encouraging, and the researchers are thinking about going into details. For example, they might try to establish if there is indeed a connection between male libido and physical exercise regime by taking a closer look at the participants’ hormonal level, a thing which they did not account for in the first phase of the study
So, being a gym addict is a big no-no, but nurturing a beer belly is unhealthy. Where’s the middle ground? The scientists believe that a moderate daily physical exercise regime coupled with a healthy diet and active lifestyle is just what you need to have a normal sex life.
