Google Pixel users have been reporting issues with their Mac Android transfer as the application behind it, the Google Android File Transfer seems to be having some issues.
Unfortunately, Google Pixel users are no strangers to issues. Media reports have signaled a number of problems. These vary from battery issues to screen freezes. Now, they have taken to reporting a new one. This one targets the Mac Android transfer.
Users have taken to announcing the issue on several websites. The Google Product Forums were especially targeted. Reddit and the XDA Developers websites are also popular in the area. They are frequently accessed by tablet and smartphone users seeking an answer.
Most customers reported problems when trying to perform a Mac Android transfer. They had trouble in connecting their Android-powered device to an Apple Mac device. An application is usually used when transferring files between the two. This is the Google Android File Transfer.
Additional investigations revealed the following. Some file and folder types can still be easily transferred. On the other hand, other types are harder to send. Some file and holder might potentially not be transmitted at all.
The USB was the initially proposed cause for the Mac Android transfer issue. Initial investigations looked at the provided USB cable. Google Pixel box supplied USB types vary. They can be anything from Type-A to Type-C. Nonetheless, this theory was put to the test.
HandShaker was used for a new Mac Android transfer. HandShaker is a transfer application provided by Mac. The previously troublesome file and folder types had no problem in transferring. As such, the USB cables were proved innocent.
Further investigation turned to the software itself. Google states that strict standards must be maintained. These should help prevent potential damage to sensitive electronic equipment.
USB Type-C cables also have a number of requirements. More exactly, they need a working cable and devices. They also require an up-to-date, running software.
The Android File Transfer application was analyzed. And its Mac OS software was last updated in October 2012. This is quite some time ago. At that moment, USB Type-C standards had not even been ratified.
This appears to be the problem. The current Android File Transfer application seems to be in great need of an update. This should help fix potential inconsistencies. Especially with the newer Mac OS versions.
The exact number of affected users is difficult to establish. Most do not take to the web to announce a failed connection. Still, some have reported the Mac Android transfer issue.
Currently, the source of the issue seems to have been found. It appears to be a mix of outdated software and USB Type-C cables.
Users experiencing such issues have a number of options. one would be to wait for an upgrade. The issue has now been pointed out. So an update may potentially follow. Another solution would be to use a different software. The aforementioned HandShaker could be an alternative.
This doesn’t seem to be having transfer issue, not matter the file and folder type. The software also supports both Google Pixel phones and their cable.
Users can choose their desired solution. And they should keep or turn to posting if the problem still stands. Or if they encounter other issues.
