Today’s world is not so friendly anymore with restaurants that were built on fast food options. The population has become more aware of the way they nourish their bodies. Recent studies and financial reports managed to identify an eating trend that prefers food quality above even price tags. This reality is depicted in movies, media, wearable tech innovations, and TV shows. As a consequence, the fast food industry has to adapt to market demand for survival. Chick-fil-A is one of the companies that started to place low calorie products in a fast food menu.
Chick-fil-A Is Already Serving Its Customers with New Gluten-Freen Buns
Chik-fil-A is a chain of restaurants that managed to build popularity around fried chicken sandwiches. Customers were in love with the delicious buns of this product until they started to count their intake of daily calories. Therefore, the restaurant has already started to roll an option for a gluten-free bun within its locations.
Leslie Neslage is the senior consultant of menu development for the company and claimed that they received proposals for an option of gluten-free bread for years. It was only this week that the company managed to accomplish such a request.
The new product is a little bit different than the popular bun with a soft and squishy texture. This time, the bread is more similar to the multi-grain bun commercialized by the same company. Moreover, it comes sprinkled with a dusting of cornmeal.
“The texture of the bun is not too heavy and most similar to a muffin.”
The company claims that the taste has not been rendered to a dry, watery feeling. Instead, it has a special flavor that can delight senses even without a toasting session. The product is made of amaranth, sorghum, and ground quinoa. The naturally sweet taste comes from raisins and molasses. All these are expensive materials that will require an extra $1.15 charge from customers. However, their new expense will ensure them low calorie products on the go.
Customers Have to Assemble Their Low Calorie Products on Their Own
However, the serving process had to be reassessed to ensure a quality service. Customers who order the new product will receive their buns individually from their sandwiches. Afterward, they have to assemble their meal themselves. This process was decided to avoid any risks of cross-contamination.
The new Chick-fil-A product is not actually a novelty in the market. Other rivals such as Red Robin or Shake Shack have already implemented this strategy. However, the whole industry seems to transition more to healthy nutritious choices every day. Therefore, the company ensured through this step a spot in the modern trends.
