As absurd as it would might sound, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department aided by the Massachusetts State Police have recently served a search and arrest warrant for a 24-year-old individual who posted as the Canadian singer Justin Bieber to force minors into sending him nude pictures over the Internet. On the 18th of December, the individual was apprehended and, after a house search, the authorities found material containing child pornography on his phone and computer.
According to the investigators, the events leading to the man’s December arrests started back in 2014. As a 9-year-old browsed Justin Bieber’s Instagram account, she received a message from a strange individual who promised to set up a private chat session with the singer.
The girl agreed and the man, later identified as 24-year-old Bryan Asrary, asked her to install a mobile application called Kik. Shortly after the girl installed the application, Asrary, posing as Justin Bieber, contacted the 9-year-old and asked her to send nude pictures. Moreover, it would appear that Asrary threatened to harm her if she did not comply with his demand.
Reluctantly, the 9-year-old send Asrary several nude pictures before deleting the whole conversation. However, this will not be the last time the 9-year-old will have to deal with Asrary’s deviant behavior. According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, on the 3rd of November, 2016, Asrary contacted the 9-year-old again.
This time, she told her that if she doesn’t send him another series of nude selfies, he isn’t going to post the first series of pics on the Internet. To the individual’s misfortune, the girl’s mother, having heard of Asrary’s scheme, contacted the police and told them all about the Justin Bieber imposter.
Seeing that they had to deal with a sex predator that hunts in an online environment, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department asked the help of the Human Trafficking Bureau in order to obtain a search warrant.
Several social media sites were under scrutiny before the authorities realized that the individual they were looking for was 24-year-old Bryan Asrary of Massachusetts. With the help of Massachusetts Police Department, the Los Angeles detectives were able to track down the suspect.
Upon serving a search warrant at Asrary’s house, the investigators discovered that the 9-year-old girl was not his only victim, the individual having tricked countless of minors into sending him nude pictures. The house search warrant revealed material containing child pornography stored on the individual’s smartphone and his computer.
