Last week, during a press conference, the Houston authorities made public the details in the case of Leon Jacob and Valerie McDaniel, the individuals who hired hitmen to kill their former lovers. According to the authorities, the arrests were made possible by the Houston detectives who staged an elaborate abduction and torture scene with the help of the couple’s victims.
Houston Detectives Claimed Suspects Asked for Pictures but Could Not Look at Them
As the authorities reveal, the story, which culminated with the March 2017 arrests of Leon Jacob and Valerie McDaniel, began in January 2017 after Meghan Verikas decided to put an end with to her three-year relationship with Jacob.
At around the same time, Mack McDaniel ended his relationship with Valerie McDaniel. As the authorities noted, after a short while Jacob, a surgeon, ended up dating Valerie, who was, at that time, working as a vet.
After a while, the newly-formed couple decided to punish their former lovers by a double assassination. The authorities managed to get wind of the couple’s plans, as Jacob was under scrutiny since his separation from Verikas who pressed charges against him for domestic violence and stalking.
The couple agreed to meet with two individuals who, presumably, were the hitmen they’ve contacted about McDaniel and Verikas. According to the authorities, the hitmen were actually Houston detectives who were working undercover.
Following their meeting, the hitmen were supposed to torture and kill McDaniel and Verikas. Using fake blood and a remote location, the authorities called in the victims in order to stage their abduction and torture.
Their ‘ordeal’ was captured on tape and photos which were later brought to Jacob and McDaniel in order to conclude the transaction. According to one of the Houston detectives who met the couple, neither Jacob nor the woman had the stomach to look at the pictures before giving them the money.
