People are different, but researchers analyzed their similar reactions and found that there are four basic patterns. In other words, they discovered that there are four personality types, based on the way people interact and react in different social situations.
The new study finds that people can be classified into four categories, function of their personality type. The four personality types which can be assigned to a person are optimistic, pessimistic, trusting and envious. More than five hundred volunteers who answered questions helped the researchers reach this conclusion.
According to the study, one of the four personality types stands out in our society, namely envious. Based on the answers of the participants to the tests, thirty percent of them have this label for they personality. Optimistic, pessimistic and trusting have each an equal percentage, namely twenty.
The research was based on easy tests, and the participants had different tasks. They were always asked to collaborate and work in pairs, which made it easier for researchers to study social behavior. The participants had to do simple choices, such as either cooperate with a partner or working on their own.
Ninety percent of the volunteers were assigned one of the four personality types. However, there is a group consisting of ten percent of the participants, which didn’t receive a clear label. They tend to present features in all four categories, and none of them prevails over the others. People who fall under this category can’t be called predictable from this point of view.
Researchers noted short definitions for each of the four personality types. Thus, envious people, who turned out to be the majority, claim to be better than others, regardless of the value of their work. Optimistic people tend to work good with a partner and aim for success. On the other hand, pessimistic individuals see no good options, but those which are less bad than others. Eventually, trusting people display great social skills, they are good conversationalists and are always willing to help and collaborate with others.
Anxo Sanchez and Yamir Moreno are two of the members of the research team. They believe that some of the results of their study contradict previous theories on human behavior. However, it is also true that both people and the social environment change over time. It is naturally that people’s social interaction should also be different now compared to other times.
