A Doral, Florida news outlet reported that a fast-food employee managed to save a police officer and her two children trapped in their car. The fast-food’s security footage shows that the office lost control of her vehicle as she was getting ready to pay for the menu. A team of paramedics managed to stabilize the victim, who was later taken to a Doral hospital. No one was hurt during the incident which took place on Tuesday.
Pedro Viloria, the fast-food employee who risked his own life to save an off-duty police officer and her children, is the man of the hour. According to eyewitness statements, the whole incident could have easily turned into a tragedy if not for Viloria’s fast thinking.
The Miami-Dade Police Department revealed that an off-duty police officer driving an SUV went to the fast-food restaurant on Tuesday accompanied by her kids. After placing her order at the first drive-thru window, the woman drove her car to the second one to pick up her order.
Pedro Viloria was in charge of serving the officer’s meal. The man told the police and the reporters that by the time the female police officer reached his drive-thru window she had trouble breathing. For several seconds, the man kept asking the police officer if she’s feeling alright and if she needs any help.
After a while, the police officer lost consciousness, and her head fell on the steering wheel. Moreover, according to Pedro Viloria, her right foot must have slipped from the brake onto the gas pedal. Seeing that the officer was no longer in control of the vehicle, Viloria jumped out of his drive-thru window, ran to the car, and managed to pull the officer out of the SUV.
According to the authorities, the SUV stopped after hitting a curb. No one was hurt during the incident. However, by the time Viloria pulled the unconscious officer out of the vehicle, she stopped breathing. The man told the woman’s kids who were inside the car to dial 911, while he went inside to seek help.
To the woman’s fortune, a team off-duty paramedics and firefighters were having their meal inside the restaurant when the incident occurred. They immediately went to the unconscious police officer and started performing CPR.
According to the Miami-Dade County Police Department, the female police officer was revived and was transported to the local hospital.
