Firefighter Catching a Baby Makes Headlines
More than often, the outstanding acts of these brave men and women, who go above and beyond the call of duty in order to save lives. But not this time. Recently, the DeKalb County’s Firefighters Union have uploaded a video on the association’s official social media account.
The minute-long video shows a firefighter catching a baby and rushing him to a safe location before rejoining his colleagues to save the other victims from a flaming video. The man behind the tear-jerking is a seasoned firefighter, Captain Scott Stroup, coming from a long line of people who put their lives at risk to save others.
The video begins with a close-up of the firefighting time as they’re struggling to douse down the flames. At one point the camera pans away, focusing on a single man who was looking at a balcony. A few seconds later, something is dropped from above and the man catches it without even flinching.
After the camera refocuses, the viewer can clearly see that the object probably thrown from one of the stories is actually a baby, with a blanket wrapped around him.
Upon retrieving the child, the captain can be seen rushing towards the nearby ambulance, but trips on his way and falls on his knees. He quickly gets up and takes the infant to safety before rejoining the rest of the crew.
According to the firefighter’s account, the infant’s parents were trapped in the balcony of one of the apartments and the mother threw him the baby.
