Malachi Love-Robinson had his first court appearance since his arrest. The fake teen doctor was offered a plea, but neither he nor his lawyer responded to the offer. In case he refuses the deal offered by the judge wants to appear in front of a jury, the 18 years old is risking over 70 years in prison.
Children like to play pretend. The game is so fun that adults adapted it and called it cosplay. So now your average lawyer or doctor goes to conventions dressed in their favorite superhero, and no one bats an eye. But Love-Robinson took the concept of playing pretend to a whole new level.
The teenager decided that he would skip the extra steps required for him to become a legitimate doctor and got himself a white lab coat and a stethoscope. He impersonated a gynecologist and naturalist doctor at the “New Birth New Life Medical Center”, giving out consultations to various women.
As if this wasn’t enough, he also made house calls. And since a junior doctor is paid barely anything, he decided to rob several of his patients. Anita Morrison was his primary victim.
The woman found the fake teen doctor while searching for physicians that used natural treatments instead of prescription drugs. She then proceeded on calling him in house visits for a couple of times, and Love-Robinson gladly assisted the elderly woman.
Until one day when she was feeling very ill, and the teenager decided to call an ambulance. At the time of the incident, he advised the 86 years old to leave her bag at home so that nobody will steal it from her in the ER.
She did just so, also leaving to her trustful doctor the keys to her house. Instead of climbing in the ambulance next to his patient, Love-Robinson proceeded on using the woman’s checks and credit cards for his own personal gain.
He spent a total of $34,504 from her account, leaving her penniless. The woman pressed charges, but that’s not how the adolescent got caught.
He was arrested when he was preparing to give an exam to an undercover police officer. Now he accused of three forgery counts, two counts of posing as a doctor and practicing medicine without any legal license, two grand theft counts, and three fraudulent personal identification use counts. The total amount of time he could spend in prison is 70 years.
During his court appearance, the fake teen doctor was offered a plea, but neither he nor his lawyer responded to the offer.
