A Donald Trump protester set himself on fire in front of the Trump International Hotel in Washington DC. The man was saved from the flames by the local fire department and treated at a hospital, where he received care for third-degree burns.
As the Inauguration Day draws near, more and more people come to voice their concerns regarding Donald Trump’s presidential election. Lately, it would seem that the peaceful protests took a violent turn when an anti-Donald Trump protester set himself on fire in front of DC’s Donald Trump International Hotel.
The whole scene was witnessed by some bystanders, including a news reporter who was in the vicinity when the man decided to end his life. According to the eyewitnesses, before setting himself on fire, the man, whose identity was not revealed, erected a small pyre using cardboard debris. He later set the pyre on fire using a torch.
A news reporter captured the scenes before the man torched himself, and managed to interview him. The man declared on national news that Trump is nothing but a dictator. After that, the mat set himself on fire, using a torch and a bottle of alcohol.
As the flames began to engulf him, the reporter managed to ask him one more question: Why? The man answered that this is his way of protesting against Donald Trump. He also added that he chose to do this because he’s incapable of living in a country ruled by a President who is incapable of respecting the rules, and they were written in the Constitution.
One of the bystanders, a construction worker, declared that he saw the whole scene, and how the firefighters arrived in order to help the man.
According to DC’s Fire Department, the man was immediately rushed to a local hospital, in order to receive medical care for his life-threatening injuries. The doctors said that when the patient was brought in, he had third-degree burns on approximately 10 percent of his body. They’ve also said that his condition is stable, for the moment, and that he’s responding well to treatment.
Unfortunately, the authorities can say for certain what exactly pushed the man into committing this act. At the moment, little is known about the arsonist, except that he’s approximately 45-years-old and he’s from California.
