On Tuesday night, the world was baffled by the official presidential results. In what looks like the most surprising political turns in the history of the United States, Donald Trump just won the battle for presidency. The Republican candidate managed to defeat all odds, win the votes of profoundly Democrat states, and secure a victory that not long ago was considered a political joke. However, we cannot stop but wonder, how could a Donald Trump presidential triumph be possible?
The GOP candidate has built a campaign on the thought that he is the voice of the average American voters. While he admitted, at times, that he does not have the political experience, or training, to sit in the oval office, Mr. Trump resonated with the registered voters at a personal level.
All other candidates had a long political history, they often spoke in terms that went passed the average viewers who were trying to make sense of the debates. Then it was the whole Hillary Clinton email scandal.
Bernie Sanders seemed to have a real chance until he made a single bad joke, referring to the Republican candidates as being mentally ill. The pleasantry cost him the nomination, and the Democrats lost the elections.
However, it is interesting how Donald Trump’s sexist remarks only brought him more votes in a world where Sanders paid a steep price for a single joke. The explanation is simple, really. Sanders had deep roots in the establishment. The Democrat spent a considerable part of his life in the political medium; he was well versed in the machinations of the industry, he should have known better, and the voters were aware of that.
After Sanders’ demise, Hillary Clinton remained Donald Trump’s main opponent. While her platform was well constructed, her speeches were flawless, and she seemed to defeat Mr. Trump at all three debates, her email mistake haunted her.
The FBI was no help as the Bureau seemed to stir things up whenever a day passed without the emails or the shadiness of the Clinton foundation being mentioned.
Donald Trump was not a stranger to scandals, either. Tapes of the GOP nominee talking down to women, making sexist remarks flooded the media. He held racist and bigot speeches; he took things to the extreme. Moreover, still, he won the hearts of the American people.
How could a Donald Trump Presidential Triumph Be Possible?
The answer is simple and painfully obvious. The establishment has lost its credibility. People lack faith in the appointed officials; they wanted a change; they wanted to “Make America Great Again” by trusting a man of the people.
Donald Trump may not have the experience to occupy the Oval Office, but he just received a massive national vote of confidence. Moreover, that says a lot about the current political status in the United States of America.
