Tired of playing the same old Battlefield 1 maps but too greedy to cough up some extra cash for new ones? No problem, because DICE has your back. Starting on the 30th of March, DICE will launch new in-game features called Premium Friends. The launch of the novel feature will coincide with the upcoming Battlefest. Will the new feature be enough for people to enjoy the game without having to think about spending money to buy the extra features like maps or signature weapons?
Picture this: Saturday evening, a couple of cold brews, some snacks, and some playing a match or two or three of Battlefield 1. What more can you ask? Well, some more maps for starters. Since the award-winning World War One inspired game was launched, DICE has noted that one of the game’s major caveats is that some players are unable to wage battle on the same map if one of them didn’t buy the Premium Pass.
What can we say? It’s a bummer, but it’s a necessary. However, according to DICE’s statements, buddy gamers are no longer required to buy the Premium Pass in order to play on the same map. Is this heaven? Close. It’ called Premium Friends, and it was specifically designed for people who don’t want to spend extra bucks on the game’s premium content but know a guy who is kind enough to share.
It may sound like something too good to be true, but it seems that starting on the 30th of March, DICE will roll out the red carpet for the Premium Friends feature. So, what does this mean exactly? Well, after the feature is in place, you and you friends will be able to play on the same Premium Pass maps if at least one of them bought the content.
Furthermore, this is great news for those buddies who pool their resources in order to buy a game. What’s even more amazing is the fact that you will be able to bank the same amount of XP when you make a kill, gain medals, and, of course, access codices.
According to DICE, the Premium Friends feature will be available for both the original Battlefield 1 and its upcoming DLC called They Shall Not Pass (Get out of the way Gandalf, because the British are coming).
So, restock on snacks and brews, folks, because Battlefield 1 just got more interesting.
