Cirque du Soleil has become the number one global brand for quality circus entertainment without animal numbers. Their expertise in show creation is unparalleled as they manage to distort the inside of a tent and human bodies in any possible artistic ways. The company has ambitious plans to extend their roots in the global entertainment offering. Therefore, it is not surprising that their latest acquisition is called the Blue Man Group.
The New Entertainment Offering Will Add Music and Technology
The Montreal-based company announced its investment in Blue Man Productions. This is a famous theater group which is specialized in amazing effects thanks to technology and music. However, their iconic performance is made of three men with blue body paint. Nonetheless, this merger intends to keep the two show identities as autonomous as before. In exchange, they will help each other with expertise and access to new resources.
The co-founder of Blue Man, Chris Wink expressed some exciting thoughts regarding this event in the show business. He stated that each individual brand would keep its authenticity as before. The only thing that will change is the corners of the world where they are going to perform, such as Eastern Europe, China, and South America.
CEO of Cirque du Soleil, Daniel Lamarre, shared same points of view regarding this merger. He assured everyone that the productions wouldn’t be mixed together. There was not an official statement regarding the budget for this acquisition, yet Lamarre gave a hint at a number in the tens of millions.
Lamarre explained the interest of the company in Blue Man as an extension of entertainment offering. This show did not have a lot of opportunities for travel. However, Cirque du Soleil intends to change that. Therefore, the blue team might get access to the same itinerary of the Canadian theatrical producer that tours in 450 cities.
