A man from Grimsby, in the northeast of UK, is trying to make a flat Earth bet but no bookmakers will accept it. The man thinks this is happening because none of them would agree to a bet they know he will win. However, the real reason was that the bookmakers thought the bid wasn’t valid.
No bookmakers will take the flat Earth bet
Gerrard Gallacher is determined to make a flat Earth bet, as he is convinced he’d win a nice sum of money if someone would take it. So far, he tried to place the bet at a series of bookmakers, but all companies declined it. While we might all understand why, the man thinks there’s a whole different reason.
Gallacher is a flat-Earther, so he thinks people are reluctant about his flat Earth bet since they know he will win. However, he is open about the opposite. If someone can prove to him that Earth is round, he is happy to accept the fact. This is why he says that bookmakers should be more open about taking his bet if they really think Earth is not flat.
The man is convinced he is going to win the bet
He didn’t want to start big, so he tried placing a £100 bet. Even so, he wasn’t lucky. One betting company, for instance, told him it was too difficult to prove which side is the winning one, so they decided to decline the bet. However, this might sound odd, since many people are known to have placed all kinds of strange bets.
For instance, people have been making suppositions on the date of the apocalypse. Other bets are even more insane, as they claim Elvis isn’t actually dead and he will return. Therefore, Gallacher cannot understand why no agency will take his flat Earth bet. However, he says he won’t be too easy to impress, so it will be hard to win against him.
