As you may know, DICE, the company which developed Battlefield 1, the First World War inspired the first-person shooter, has recently launched the game’s very first DLC called They Shall Not Pass. However, as the game’s official page reveals, this is but one of the four DLCs slated to be released for Battlefield 1, the other three being In the Name of the Tsar, Turning Tides, and Apocalypse.
What should we expect from Battlefield 1’s first DLC released by DICE? Nothing but the best, according to DICE’s announcement. The DLC will contain four new maps, new character classes; brand new WW1 inspired weapons, new armored vehicles, a new game mode, and two new operations. Of course, the They Shall Not Pass DLC can only be purchased and played by those who have the Premium Pass.
However, through DICE’s newest Premium Friends feature, you and your buddies will be able to access new maps, weapons, and modes if at least one of you has purchased a Premium Pass. Let’s take a closer look at the goodies offered by Battlefield 1’s one first DLC.
New Battlefield One Maps
The DLC will introduce four new historically accurate maps: Verdun Heights, Fort De Vaux, Soissons, and Rupture. While Verdun Height brings the players in the middle of the brutal Battle of Verdun, Fort de Vaux will offer them a chance to witness first-hand the horror of underground warfare. The Soissons map focuses on the battle bearing the same name when the 10th French Army first deployed its Chamond tank.
As for Rupture, this map takes the players in the middle of the Aisne River battle, where he and his comrades must capture key bridges.
Weapons & Character Class
They Shall not Pass will introduce players to some of WW1’s most iconic infantry weapons such as the MLE 1903 Extended, the Sjogren Inertial, Lebel Model 1886, Ribeyrolles 1918, Chauchat, and the RSC 1917. In terms of stationary weapons, you will be able to lay waste to your enemies using the powerful siege howitzer.
In addition, you will also be able to dominate trench warfare thanks to the new player class called the Elite Trench Raider.
Introducing two new armored behemoths – the St. Chamond assault tank aka the King of the Battlefield and, of course, the Char 2C heavy-armored tank.
New Game Mode
DICE’s first Battlefield 1 DLC features a new game mode called Frontline, which was described as being a mix of conquest and rush. The purpose is to capture the enemy’s HQ and the telegraph line.
Fancy some new battles in order to test your skills? They Shall Not Pass features two WW1 inspired operations focused on close-quarter combat and armored vehicle warfare. The two new operations are called Beyond the Marne and The Devil’s Anvil.
