The 2017 Game Awards was full of exciting events in the world of gaming, with dozens of confirmations of upcoming games. Bandai Namco was among those who released the news of a new title. The company’s future game is a continuation of the SoulCalibur series, SoulCalibur VI.
SoulCalibur VI got a brief and not-so-revealing trailer
So far, Bandai Namco said it was going to use Unreal Engine 4 for the development of the game. Also, the title should be available on Steam next year for PC, but it will also feature PS4 and Xbox One versions. Unfortunately, that’s pretty much everything the studio revealed about SoulCalibur VI.
The trailer is quite short, and shows two of the characters, Mitsurugi and Sophitia, fighting. To add a tinge of darkness, the Nightmare’s sword is present as well. Also, there are small hints related to the story, showing people getting ready for war or hiding from its atrocities.
SoulCalibur VI will definitely be a delight for all classic fans of the franchise, as the action in the trailer displays all kinds of weapons and shields that players love. Moreover, the atmosphere remains unchanged from the previous titles.
This is the first SoulCalibur game released in five years
This franchise was born in 1995, with the first game featuring as an arcade and being called Soul Edge. Then, it received a sequel which was called SoulCalibur, and everything started. The latest game released in this series is SoulCalibur V, which was out in 2012. This means that old-school fans were more than excited to find out another game in their favorite series will finally be released after five years.
Judging from the trailer, Mitsurugi and Sophitia will definitely be present in SoulCalibur VI, as they’ve been throughout the entire series. However, since all the news on the new game are so shady, it’s hard to tell what other characters will get there. E3 2018 will be out in June and, by then, Bandai Namco will definitely reveal more about the game.
