The year of 2014 saw the TV adaptation of John Green’s work “The Fault in Our Stars.” Everybody loved the teenage couple who were yet too young to confront one of the most dreadful challenges in life, cancer. Nonetheless, the characters managed to overcome this evil in their own innocent way. After five years of silence, the author returns with a new insightful book that has another cruel trick of the fate at its core.
The New Insightful Book Is Called ‘Turtles All the Way Down’
Penguin Young Readers is the publisher of the young talent John Green. The publishing house announced that the author’s new book entitled “Turtles All the Way Down” would appear on October 10.
The main character of the novel is another representative of teenagers who have to confront merciless health conditions instead of leading a happy childhood. Her name is Aza Holmes, and she wants to play the role of a little detective and find a disappeared billionaire. Along with her adventures, Aza has to also deal with her mental illness.
The Plot Follows the Struggles of a Child with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Even though the 2014 book represented a global success for the young author, Green seems to be more affectionate towards his latest work. This is because the story is actually built around his own personal struggles that started to describe his life since childhood. Therefore, the characters might be fictional, yet the topic is a familiar and sensitive aspect for John Green.
“I’ve been working on ‘Turtles All the Way Down’ for years, and I’m so excited to share it with readers.”
The mental issue in question is a case of obsessive compulsive disorder combined with anxiety. John Green made this aspect of his life no secret to the world. He turned to online channels such as YouTube and Reddit to talk openly about this condition. The author admitted that his ascension to a public figure accentuated his battles with his old struggles. Nevertheless, these personal experiences were a source of inspiration for him in writing his new insightful book.
