Austin Mom Used Home Implements to Discipline Daughter
Eunice Alvarez Augusto, 30, has been arrested soon after the authorities discovered that the woman had traumatized her 10-year-old daughter. The Child Protective Services and Austin law enforcement officers were summoned on the 19th of January at the elementary school were Eunice’s child was learning.
During class, one of the girl’s teachers observed that the child had a black eye and bruises all over her body. The 10-year-old was rushed to the Dell Children’s Medical Center to receive medical attention. Upon examining the girl, the doctors discovered that the girl had two lower back injuries and showed signs of long-term trauma.
The woman was shortly arrested and charged with child abuse. During her police interview, the woman declared that her intent was to discipline her out-of-control daughter. Eunice also confessed that she varied her methods of punishments.
The Austin mom used extension cords, cables, and sticks in order to beat her 10-year-old daughter into submission. When these methods proved useless, the woman would also use pieces of wood, leather belts, and, allegedly, a cowboy boot’s heel to discipline the child.
Furthermore, the girl’s hand X-Ray revealed that the Austin mom stepped on the child’s hand while wearing the cowboy boots, nearly crushing her bones. Eunice Alvarez Augusto was booked into the Travis County Jail, awaiting her trial.
If proven guilty, the Austin mom could spend anywhere from five to 99 years behind bars. The 10-year-old is still in the hospital and is expected to be released as soon as possible.
