Dr. Dre is one of the most notorious American rappers of all times. However, his most influential career decisions implied supporting other talents such as Eminem and 50 Cent. The artist and entrepreneur is now turning to philanthropic directions. As of recently, he donated a total of $10 million to Compton High School. This is a new educational establishment that opened in his hometown of Compton, Los Angeles. The funds will greatly help them build an arts center.
Through His Donation, Dr. Dre Wants to Invest in the Future of Kids
Students and members of Compton High School will now have all the necessary equipment to study the secrets of arts. The entire community will have access to this establishment which will welcome them with modern facilities. The interior will offer a large assortment of top-notch musical tools and the necessary equipment for digital media production. On top of that, the high school can also throw grand festivities thanks to a theater chamber with a capacity of 1,200 seats.
Dr. Dre commented on his generous donation as an embodiment of his goal to help kids reach their true potential with the necessary tools and equipment. Through this new center, he wants them to extend their knowledge and earn access to a positive future.
“The performing arts center will be a place for young people to be creative.”
The Arts Center Will Represent the Most Complex Studio Students Can Have at Their Disposal
However, the institution still does not have all the necessary funds to start construction for their arts center. On the other hand, Dr. Dre pledged to organize fundraising activities as well to help the community even further. Therefore, the construction is scheduled to begin in the year of 2020.
However, the waiting time will be worth it. Vice chairman of the Compton Unified School District’s Board of Education, Per Micah Ali, stated that the upcoming establishment is going to be the first such top-notch complex ever offered to a high school community.
