Chicago law enforcement authorities reported that at least six people were injured during a shooting that took on Wednesday in a restaurant. According to the police officials, several people were gathered inside the restaurant at that time in order to grieve the death of a 20-year-old woman, who was shot on Monday.
A vigil held in honor of 20-year-old Jamayah Fields nearly turned into a bloodbath after several individuals belonging to a Chicago gang opened fire on the crowd. According to the initial police reports, at least six people were injured in the shooting, including a 12-year-old girl whose skull was grazed by a bullet, and an unidentified male who arrived at the hospital in a critical condition.
Chicago’s Police Department is currently trying to determine the identity of the suspects who injured six persons during a vigil held in a restaurant. According to their reports, several people were gathered on Wednesday evening to mourn the tragic loss of Jamayah Fields, a 20-year-old who was fatally shot on Monday during a gang war.
During the event, several individuals, probably belonging to a Chicago gang, went to the restaurant in order to assassinate one of the persons attending the event. Jedidiah Brown, a community activist, declared in a press interview, that the attackers learned on social media that their target might be attending the vigil.
Without any word of warning, the attackers opened fire on the restaurant and disappeared before the authorities arrived. Unfortunately, although most of the people wounded in the shooting required minor medical attentions, two persons, a 12-year-old girl, and a man needed to be rushed to the hospital for emergency care.
According to the authorities, one of the stray bullets superficially grazed the girl’s skull, while the man was critically wounded. During his interview, Brown pleaded the parties to forfeit their revenge plans and said that there might be a peaceful alternative.
Meanwhile, Chicago’s PD is still trying to determine the identity of the person targeted by the Chicago gang, and the reason why he was hunted down. At the moment, the police officers made no arrests and didn’t have any suspects.
When confronted with the incident, President Donald Trump declared that he is appalled and that if Chicago does not get its shooting rates down, he will bring the Feds. At the moment, it’s still unclear what the President meant when he said that he would bring in the Feds.
